Norbert Honkisch - Demomix 04.2009

Norbert was born in Poland, but he currently resides in Berlin. Already as a child he showed a great interest in music, which was surely a result of the fact that his family had had strong ties to music for generations, beginning with his great grandfather, who owned a piano factory; to his world-renowned grandfather who tuned pianos for Steinway & Sons; to his mother, who is a music teacher. At the age of 6 he began to play the piano, and at the age of seven he began his studies in music school. Norbert’s first contact with turn tables was at the age of fourteen, when he decided to try his skills at hip hop. It turned out, however, that this was not his calling, and it was only his contact with electronic music that gave him a feeling of full satisfaction as well as artistic fulfillment, and continues to do so to this day. His dream of being able to present his deep fascination with electronic sounds before a live audience has already been fulfilled on multiple occasions, and his performances behind the decks are always met with enthusiasm by clubbers. His sets are full of positive energy and inspire the audience’s interest. An excellent mixing technique allows him to generate a considerable elation among his audience, and has allowed him to get every party going. Behind the decks, Norbert does not limit himself only to playing the music- he simply enjoys himself along with his audience, and this only escalates the experience of those on the dance floor. He began with tribal techno and for many years his sets focused on tribal. The music he currently plays is very difficult to pigeon hole, since this is an explosive merger of electro-tech with numerous influences coming from minimal and neo trance. During a career that spans several years, he has had the pleasure of performing in a countless number of both Polish clubs and clubs abroad. He has performed with headlining Polish DJs on many occasions, as well as with international headliners at large events, such as Loveparade and Soundtropolis, to which he was invited. For some years he has also been working with the booking agency “Substanz.art.” However, it is not enough for Norbert to play other people’s track’s, his own productions are waiting to be issued.
