Compilation of music from talented international artists.
FOEM, the netlabel and talent pool, has announced the release of the latest in its series of compilations - Eclectic Youth volume 17. FOEM has become known for featuring the crème de la crème of the multinational underground music scene on its regular compilations. The aim is to give artists the chance to reach a wide international audience. Eclectic Youth vol. 17 is available now for free download from the FOEM website: http://foem.info
The tracks featured on the CD were chosen by the FOEM crew over an 8 month period from over 1000 songs. 56 essential tracks have been included in the final compilation, which is split into 2 parts based on musical style – part 1: ‘Inclusion’ and part 2: ‘Involvement’. The featured artists cover a wide range of urban styles, from Free Jazz to Minimal House to IDM Breaks to Funk to Hardtechno to experimental music of all kinds.
The artists involved with FOEM come from over 100 different countries, and widely varying backgrounds. For instance, on the CD an Iranian artist is featured immediately before an American artist, showing that music is truly universal language, and a powerful unifying force, bringing people around the world closer together.
Many of the artists are included for the first time, while others such as Hardmoon, dr.nojoke, Flavio Gaete, jerzz, AUDIOGLIDER, teflonbuddha, Takashi Fujimori und MiaMia have become established contributors to the FOEM community. As with previous volumes, the cover was designed by Jan Uretsky, a graphic designer and professor of design at the renowned Pratt Institute in
Since FOEM was founded 5 years ago, the community has grown to include over 11000 members. Altogether there have been more than 150,000 downloads of FOEM compilations which have been very well received by critics worldwide. FOEM is committed to providing the compilations for free from fast servers in the highest quality possible – 320 kbps constant bitrate mp3s. The music is protected by a Creative Commons license.
Many labels and independent artists use the FOEM compilations for promotion, placing a teaser track on the CD, receiving free promotion and interested listeners as the CD is spread virally on the internet. Florian Amann, founder of FOEM said “the CDs are intended be like a travel guide to help music lovers find their way through the increasingly confusing jungle of free music available online”. Talented artists and labels who offer music free from the restrictions of copyright collecting agencies such as GEMA, ASCAP or Buma/Stemra are invited to upload their music to the FOEM server as an entry for the next compilation.
